Sometimes, In Order to Move Ahead…

…One has to take A Bold Step Back.

A local resident outlines his ideas. An excerpt:

So much of the country has become addicted to the government teat. The federal government was not created to ‘take care’ of us. It was founded to protect us from outside harm, to regulate interstate commerce and a very few other tasks. But to serve their own interests, the people that have been getting elected year after year have been ‘feeding’ us…providing jobs, social programs — all with the objective to keep us voting for them.

Even a crack addict needs to recognize the problem before they can make a move to recover. WAKE UP AMERICA!!! We have a problem!

AIG Exec: “Take This Job and Shove It”

A lot of feigned outrage over the AIG bonuses have led to the worst of extremes, ranging from mob protests to the unprecedented use of punitive taxation by Congress (which is also a Constitutional breach).

However, there are two sides to every story, and a moving resignation letter from one of the targeted executives says it all.

It is with deep regret that I submit my notice of resignation from A.I.G. Financial Products. I hope you take the time to read this entire letter. Before describing the details of my decision, I want to offer some context:

I am proud of everything I have done for the commodity and equity divisions of A.I.G.-F.P. I was in no way involved in — or responsible for — the credit default swap transactions that have hamstrung A.I.G. Nor were more than a handful of the 400 current employees of A.I.G.-F.P. Most of those responsible have left the company and have conspicuously escaped the public outrage.

After 12 months of hard work dismantling the company — during which A.I.G. reassured us many times we would be rewarded in March 2009 — we in the financial products unit have been betrayed by A.I.G. and are being unfairly persecuted by elected officials. In response to this, I will now leave the company and donate my entire post-tax retention payment to those suffering from the global economic downturn. My intent is to keep none of the money myself.

I take this action after 11 years of dedicated, honorable service to A.I.G. I can no longer effectively perform my duties in this dysfunctional environment, nor am I being paid to do so. Like you, I was asked to work for an annual salary of $1, and I agreed out of a sense of duty to the company and to the public officials who have come to its aid. Having now been let down by both, I can no longer justify spending 10, 12, 14 hours a day away from my family for the benefit of those who have let me down.

To those in Washington who displayed such phony and hypocritcal outrage that sparked an unnecessary witch hunt: Shame on all of you.

It’s bad enough that those targeted had to perform a thankless job to fix a problem with assurances of contractual compensation THAT WAS APPROVED BY BOTH THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESS are being shafted, forced to give up their rightful earnings, played as pawns in a game of class envy, and subjected threats of violence and death.

Today it’s AIG; tomorrow it could be a private, non-financial firm that didn’t need or didn’t ask for goverment aid.

It never was about rescuing institutions that were considered “too big to fail”; it’s about nationalization and government-led extortion.

Man, Obama’s F’n Up!

Enough is enough. I want his hoodwinking efforts to ram socialism down our throats to FAIL. EPIC FAIL.

YES, I SAID IT!

Bert Prelutsky comments on the foolish mistake Americans put in the White House and his efforts thus far:

Judging by the early days of his administration, I have had to reevaluate him. He’s even worse than I feared. It’s been one disaster after another. His appointments have been a series of embarrassments. His hard sell of the Pelosi-Reid trillion dollar earmark makes him look like the worst sort of fear-monger. And, considering the fact that he was sold to us as eloquent and a fellow who could think on his feet, his use of a teleprompter at his press conference reminded me of the Wizard of Oz, the con man behind the curtain. I guess you can take the man out of Chicago, but you can’t take Chicago out of the man.

Frankly, I don’t know why anybody continues to hold Obama in high esteem. Maybe it’s like those women who marry charming fellows only to discover after the vows have been exchanged that he’s an abuser. In spite of the black eyes and split lips, the ladies are just too embarrassed to call the cops and have their friends and relatives discover what a dunderhead they’ve been.

Yeah, he’s my President, but I don’t have to like it. And before you Obama worshipers start weighing in, just remember these three words: Dissent is patriotic.

Obamaian Rhapsody

I came across the following posted in comments at Nealz Nuze by ‘TheMuse’. And yes, the blog entry by Boortz is a must-read:

To the tune of “Bohemian Rhapsody”:

Is this republic?
Is this democracy?
When people decide,
Who’re divorced from reality.
When Dems opine,
Open your mind and think.
I’m just a citizen, I need no sympathy.
‘Cause I’m working hard, earning dough,
I’m paying bills, as I go,
Anyway the polls go, only freedom matters to me,
To me

Obama, will tax all men,
With a bold stroke of his pen,
He’ll raise our rates again.
Obama, that was my money.
But now you’ve taken all of it away,
Obama ooooo
Why do you have to pry
My last nickel from my callused hands??
I’ll revolt! I’ll revolt! Cause only freedom matters

Socialist, they nominate
Sends shivers down my spine
If he wins, we’re in hard times
I’ll lose every freedom I used to know
Forced to give them all right up for greater good.
Obama, oooo (any way the polls go)
I don’t wanna pay
For someone that has never worked for a day!

I’m just a free individual of this land!
Democrats, Democrats, why must you micro-manage?
Mercury laden lighting very, very frightening me!
Global warming, global warming
Global warming, global warming
Scam that makes our taxes grow; makes em grow-ow-ow-ow,
I’m just a citizen, my family loves me.
He’s just a citizen raising his family,
Spare his wife and kids from your Socialist decree!
I work hard for my dough, will you tax me low?
O-bama! No! We will not tax you low! Tax me low!
O-bama! We will not tax you low! Tax me low!
O-bama! We will not tax you low! Tax me low!
Will not tax you low! Tax me low!
Will not tax you low! Tax me low!
No,no,no,no,no,no,no- low low low low low low low
Harry Reid, Harry Reid. Harry Reid won’t tax me low.
Pelosi-bub has a tax rate hike for me, for me, and YOU

So she thinks she can tax me at rates sky high??
So she thinks she can tell me which light bulb to buy??
Oh Nancy, can’t do this to me Nancy
Just gonna vote out, gonna vote you outta here

Only freedom matters.
Anyone can see,
Only freedom matters, only freedom matters to me.

Anyway the polls go…

Chavez: “No Cinnabon For You!”

Down in Hugoland, free markets continue to be brought to a slow, grinding halt as the “democratically-elected” El Presidente shuts down a nearly-completed shopping mall in Caracas.

“They had already built a monster there,” Chavez said. “I passed by there just recently and said, ‘What is this? My God!’”

So the often-impulsive president told an allied mayor to halt construction and said this prime block of urban real estate should be expropriated. He said the sprawling six-story building might be put to better use as a hospital or university.

The exercise in drive-by socialism illustrates Chavez’s tendency to govern from his gut, and to leap in when he thinks other government agencies — in this case city planners — aren’t doing their job.

The new Sambil mall was scheduled to open in the La Candelaria district early next year, packed with 273 shops, movie theaters and offices. Chavez complained — with reason, some experts say — that it would add yet more traffic to an area that’s already so crowded “not a soul fits.”

“Stop it, Mr. Mayor. And we’re going to review all of it. And we’re going to expropriate that and turn it into a hospital — I don’t know — a school, a university,” Chavez said during his weekly broadcast on Sunday. [...]

Despite Chavez’s calls for moving toward socialism, many Venezuelans have tended to ignore his exhortations to shed their consumerist habits. Shopping malls with stores such as Louis Vuitton and Timberland have sprouted up rapidly in recent years as windfall oil earnings have boosted the economy.

If the voters can’t throw him out of office, maybe the mall rats will.

Gearing Up For Obamunism

First, the Democrats are planning to censor the airwaves (and possibly the Internet):

Next, they plan to make wealth redistribution the law of the land:

Of course, they will shoot you down if you dare to disagree with them:

And the new state-sanctioned media will put words in your mouth.

“What a country, America!”

Great Expectations

“I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage… If I help [Obama], he’s gonna help me.”

Barry Obama won’t even help his own relatives in need. How in the world is he going to help this person and others with smoke, mirrors, and Greek columns?

It’s amazing how The Easily Fooled step right up to the Kool-Aid stand.

I don’t want nobody
To give me nothing
Open up the door
I’ll get it myself

Visit LGF for the write-up.

Before you Obama supporters cheer this on as a good thing. Remember that Nazi Germany, the former Soviet Union, Spain, Italy, Cuba, China, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Iran, Afghanistan, and Venezuela either had or currently have “civilian national security forces” set up in their countries — and we know full well what their duties are or once were.

Put down the Kool-Aid and wake up. You are not about to make history come Tuesday; you’re preparing to REPEAT history.

Marx Becomes Him

He can deny it all the live-long day, but there’s no evidence to the contrary.

Barack Obama is a socialist.

Now Senator, when you shared your toys and PB&J as a kid, did you do so voluntarily, or were you coerced by your mother into doing such under penalty of a timeout?

You are known by the company you keep.

Mock us all you want, but we are not fooled. We know what the meaning of “change” is.

You are what you are. Man up and just admit it.

Update (10/31) Video below, plus commentary by Jake Tapper:

Obama: The (Mysterious) College Years

Zombietime does the job that the media blindly refuses to do:

[Barack Obama, William Ayers, and Bernardine Dohrn] were in the same city as each other, at the same time.
They lived near each other.
The went to school near each other.
They had the same political interests.
Their circles of friends and associates intersected.

By sheer coincidence, a decade later in Chicago, they were in the same city as each other, at the same time; they lived near each other; they had the same political interests; their circles of friends and associates intersected.

Or was it not a coincidence at all?

Obama on Wealth Redistribution

From a radio interview in 2001, Barack goes in full detail on how he would bring about “redistributive change”:

We now know BHO’s true intentions of “spreading the wealth around”.

(h/t: LGF)

Update (10/27): Bill Whittle comments:

We have, in our storied history, elected Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives and moderates. We have fought, and will continue to fight, pitched battles about how best to govern this nation. But we have never, ever in our 232-year history, elected a president who so completely and openly opposed the idea of limited government, the absolute cornerstone of makes the United States of America unique and exceptional.

If this does not frighten you — regardless of your political affiliation — then you deserve what this man will deliver with both houses of Congress, a filibuster-proof Senate, and, to quote Senator Obama again, “a righteous wind at our backs.”

That a man so clear in his understanding of the Constitution, and so opposed to the basic tenets it provides against tyranny and the abuse of power, can run for president of the United States is shameful enough.

We’re just getting started.

Income Redistribution Defined

Plumber to Obama: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more. Isn’t it?”

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Folks, that is neither fairness nor “neighborliness”. It is SOCIALISM. I will even go further to say that “income redistribution” is just another euphemism for THEFT. Such theft will damage the incentive to work hard and succeed. If you think the current economic crisis is bad, just wait until an Obama Administration takes money and assets away from middle-income earners and higher in the name of “spreading the wealth”.

And people have the audacity of hysteria as to why voters like me refuse to drink the Kool-Aid.

Where He Kowtows

Las Vegas Sun publisher and Obama supporter Brian Greenspun calls for a “new” socialist economy:

In this global economy, most of our major competitors are sponsored, funded or otherwise encouraged by the governments in which these competitors reside. Cheaper money, more workable regulations and the political and moral suasion of the good offices of governments is a difficult combination for purely private American business interests to overcome. And, as a result, we often don’t.

Having the government, on behalf of the taxpayers, buy into our largest companies does a couple of good things. It provides instant liquidity and it gives the government a seat at the table so it knows much better and much faster the status of our economic engines. I didn’t say control of those companies, just a seat.

The problem with that idea is that once government buys “just a seat”, they will want to buy another seat, then another seat, etc. until they own all the seats.

Spare us the bullcrap, Brian. What you are blatantly advocating is nothing new.

Whether it may be “just a seat” or a full takeover, nationalizing banks and major industries is a rotten idea. But of course, it’s just peachy keen with you — as long as Big Daddy Government doesn’t buy “just a seat” at the table of the Greenspun Corporation.

In closing, why does the Las Vegas Sun harbor a far-left bias on every page?

Why?
