Once upon a time, liberals prided themselves, with considerable reason, as the staunchest defenders of free speech. Union organizers in the 1930s and 1940s made the case that they should have access to employees to speak freely to them, and union leaders like George Meany and Walter Reuther were ardent defenders of the First Amendment.
Today’s liberals seem to be taking their marching orders from other quarters. Specifically, from the college and university campuses where administrators, armed with speech codes, have for years been disciplining and subjecting to sensitivity training any students who dare to utter thoughts that liberals find offensive. The campuses that used to pride themselves as zones of free expression are now the least free part of our society.
Frankly, I wouldn’t consider the latest mutation of socialists to be “liberal” at all, as they spread like wildfire from the campus to the newsrooms, to the airwaves, to the internet, and short of a major wake-up call, to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the District of Columbia.
We are seeing only the tip of the iceberg. In a span of four to eight years, the radical left would probably make the Bolsheviks look like a weekend supper club.
The Obama campaign is not only trying to silence the National Rifle Assocation’s current ad campaign against their Führer candiate, they’re also threatening to go after the FCC licenses of the TV stations that air them.
If you can’t beat ‘em, silence ‘em.
The Barack Obama campaign has resorted to a campaign of intimidation and legal threats to convince television stations and the federal government to force off the air an ad by the American Issues Project detailing the link between Sen. Obama and remorseless domestic terrorist William Ayers.
The Obama campaign has been contacting stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot. The Obama campaign also sent a letter yesterday to the Department of Justice asking the government to investigate American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors. With no success on either front, the campaign has begun running its own ad in response. Notably, this ad fails to dispute a single fact in the American Issues Project’s initial ad.
If you think the above is bad, God help this nation if The Easily Fooled elect him President. The Obamanian Goon Squad will definitely be in full force, censoring any and all opposition.
Yes, Barry Obama is whining about our troops choosing to watch FOX News Channel on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, even suggesting that it’s another Bush conspiracy in the works.
It’s Obama who wants to censor the media and control what is broadcast over the airwaves — and he won’t stop with banning FNC from AFRTS should he become commander-in-chief. And people have the audacity to shake their heads in bewilderment when I state that I’m against him being elected President.
Beware the candidate who bangs the drums of hope and change in order to whip the citizenry into a socialist fervor. In the case of Caesar Obamacus, it’s not a hoax.
