Gore’s Own ‘Inconvenient Truth’

February 26th, 2007

Proof that the “global warming” BS is nothing but feel-good hot air from the left, courtesy of the Tennesee Center for Policy Research:

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

During his acceptance speech for the so-called documentary, director Davis Guggenheim said, “I made this movie for my children. We all did. And we did so because we were moved to act by this man… all of us were inspired by his fight for 30 years to tell his truth to all of us.”

The truth that Gore is a hypocrite?

We didn’t need a gratuitous Hollywood flick to tell us that.

And as for “the children”, talk radio commentator Jerry Doyle noted during his show today that nobody made mention of the children who are starving to death in totalitarian countries like Zimbabwe.

I guess it’s far easier for Hollywood to save the planet than actually doing something tangible to save suffering kids…

    He’s a complete fraud.

While I don’t stand with you in denying global warming exists, I do agree that the kids under totalitarian governments like Zimbabwe and North Korea, as well as kids suffering in our own country (not saying we’re totalitarian just yet), are a much more pressing matter.

In fact, I think most celebrities, regardless of their cause, are ambassadors of pretense who would sooner put down their cause than go beyond throwing money at what stirs them. I’d like to see most of them putting more than just their money where their mouths are.

But we can’t be leaving our comfort zones, now, can we? We’d rather spew a bunch of holier-than-thou, useless rhetoric than actually do anything meaningful. It’s all a big show to them – at least 95% theatrics. The ones that you see actually volunteering to do anything meaningful and not being excessively vocal about it are few and far between. Hollywood, even the left side of it, are a bunch of wolves in sheep’s clothing, as far as I’m concerned. Most of the crap they claim to do is little more than publicity stunts.

Maybe I’m just bitter because trying to live green is so expensive for common folk like us, just because right now it’s the “trendy” thing to do, because these self-righteous a$$holes tout it everywhere they go.

Sorry for rambling, just wanted to let you know that not all of us on the left are pretentious ba$tards.

I think the “carbon footprint police” are blowing the climate change debate way out of proportion. Their goals aren’t necessarily that of conservation and better stewardship of natural resources, but to promote and spread socialism by telling others how to live their lives — which is the ultimate goal of the Watermelon Brigade (green on the outside, red on the inside).

Man-made global warming is nothing but a wretched hive of junk science and hysteria. Period.

I favor ecological solutions based on free-market principles, and not based on government regulation, Chicken-Little fearmongering, or feel-good groupthink. Such positive steps benefit both the environment and the people who live in it.

I think forces in power and places of influence have an annoying tendency to polarize and over-simplify matters. As common folk, we have allowed them to train us to think like them – not taking all factors surrounding an issue into consideration, but only the ones that benefit our stance – while forgetting that unilateral thinking has never benefited anyone, nor will it ever.

The Gore’s pay more for enviro-freindly electricity. Imagine the hours of work and research that go on at his home for the environment. As one person was quoted saying on the news, “sometimes it is easier to attack the messenger than to listen to the message”. Right wing so called “conservatives” (I don’t know how you can call yourself a conservative unless you are also a conservationist) are all to quick to pass blame and LIE rather than research the truth and take responsibility. Getting as rich as possible and saving tax dollars for millionairs and billionairs means little to God. Helping the poor, disabled (22,000 veterans wounded and coming home with inadequate care and benefits)and taking care of the gift of God’s that this planet is should be everyones responsibility, duty and pleasure. Rusch Limbaugh lied for years about how glable warming was a myth…..YEAH RIGHT! Wake up and grow a heart…..Sam Houston IV

“Enviro-friendly electricity.” Interesting, particularly since the utility bills in question come from Nashville Electric. According to that company’s website, it’s $4 per month “more expensive.”

So, let’s see… Gore’s green $1,359 for 18,414 kilowatt-hours would really amount to a mere $1,355 for 18,414 kilowatt-hours. Well, gee, that makes all the difference!

Hey, I wonder if the producer of that movie, Laurie David, uses “enviro-friendly” gas to fuel her private Gulfstream jet?
