Wahhabism Abounds

January 30th, 2006

A senior Hamas leader indicated Sunday in an interview to CNN’s “Late Edition” that his group’s landslide victory in Palestinian legislative elections changed little in its stance toward Israel.

Mahmoud Zahar reiterated that his movement would not ever recognize Israel’s right to exist, nor did he reveal any willingness to negotiate. “Negotiation is not our aim; negotiation is a method,” he said. [...]

The several conditions Zahar named included a demand that Israel change its flag. “Israel must remove the two blue stripes from its national flag,” said Zahar. “The stripes on the flag are symbols of occupation. They signify Israel’s borders stretching from the Euphrates River to the Nile River.”

Actually, Hamas really wants all the blue removed from the Israeli flag — leaving a plain white flag in the process (and we all know what a white flag stands for).

SnoopyTheGoon proposes a special Israeli flag in response to Hamas.

Al-Qaeda’s second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, said in a videotape aired today by al-Jazeera television that he escaped a U.S. air strike this month on a village in northwestern Pakistan.

The Jan. 13 attack killed as many as 18 people, and sparked protests against the U.S. in the cities of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar, with demonstrators burning U.S. flags and demanding the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

U.S. planes launched the assault “under the pretext of wanting to kill my frail self and four of my companions,” Zawahiri said. “The entire world has discovered the extent of the American lies.”

The appearance of Zawahiri, coupled with an audio message from Osama bin Laden 11 days ago threatening new attacks against the U.S., highlighted the ability of the hunted al-Qaeda leadership to communicate from hiding.

“Bush, do you know where I am?” Zawahiri said on the tape today, according to an English translation posted later on al- Jazeera’s Web site. “I am among the Muslim masses.”

Al-Jazeera aired a new videotape Monday of kidnapped U.S. journalist Jill Carroll, showing her wearing a headscarf and weeping as she purportedly appealed for the release of female Iraqi prisoners.

The video is dated Saturday, two days after the U.S. military released five Iraqi women detainees. U.S. officials said the release had nothing to do with the kidnappers’ demands.

A Danish newspaper on Monday issued an apology to the world’s Muslims for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad that sparked a furor in the Islamic world.

The drawings “were not in violation of Danish law but have undoubtedly offended many Muslims, which we would like to apologize for,” the Jyllands-Posten’s editor-in-chief Carsten Juste said in a statement posted on the paper’s Web site.

Of course the Islamists will continue to kill, kill, and kill some more until their goals are reached.

Why? Because it’s in the Koran!
