“Green Jobs” Defined

Of the many TV commercials aired during yesterday’s Super Bowl broadcast, the “Green Police” ad for Audi sparked some tongue-in-cheek controversy:

Can it happen here? In some ways, it is already happening, albeit not to the extreme where hardcore environmentalists are pushing for “eco-crimes” to be fall under criminal prosecution.

What do you think?

Fear and Loathing of Las Vegas, Continued

President Obama seems to be quite content to bet other people’s money on a game of Keynesian Craps, but he just couldn’t resist taking another swipe at the city that I (and of course, a multitude of those who campaigned and voted for him in droves) call home:

“When times are tough, you tighten your belts,” The Hill quoted Obama saying today at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire.” You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he spoke to the White House following Obama’s comments.

“While the President is correct that people saving for college need to be fiscally responsible, the President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn’t be spending their money,” Reid said in a statement.

Other state and local politicians aren’t too happy with the Gambler-In-Chief’s snide remarks either.

This time, because of Harry Reid’s response (mainly in part that he’s dependent upon the President’s assistance in the re-election battle of his life), Obama issued a tepid explanation.

Maybe Obama should start making amends by tightening his own damn belt and spending more time thinking about the effect his careless words may have on the Nevada economy. Failure to do so may result in three congressional Democrats finding themselves in the unemployment lines with their fellow down-and-out Las Vegans after November.

I Don’t Know About You, But…

I’ve grown tired of the groveling.

We get it. You’re an ideologue who thinks he isn’t one. You say you know what the people want, yet you ignore the voices of the people. You’re angry at the judicial branch for scuttling a restrictive campaign law that you yourself chose not to follow. And now, you say you want to control spending and whittle down the deficit by proposing an outlandish budget plan with more tax hikes and even more spending.

We’re stuck with you for the next three years. We get that. We’ll cope until your term ends.

But, for God’s sake man, stop with the groveling already. It makes you look weak.

A head of state bows to NO ONE.

If you can work on nailing down that precision commander-in-chief salute, you can also work greeting others without losing control of your spine.

Oh, and learn to speak extemporaneously too, lest you be accused of being a puppet.
