A sign of weakness on his part, if you ask me.
Sen. Barack Obama met with Sen. Hillary Clinton at her home in Washington on Thursday, sources close to his campaign said.
Earlier, reporters learned that the presumptive Democratic nominee for president was not aboard his press plane when it departed Virginia, where Obama had been campaigning. His aides explained that staff members “scheduled him some meetings” in Washington.
Also on Thursday, Clinton thanked supporters in an e-mail and pledged to help Obama capture the White House after eight years of Republican control. Clinton also plans to thank supporters in person at a Washington event Saturday.
“I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party’s nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise,” the e-mail read.
“This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.”
Depending on the outcome of that meeting, we’ll find out how “small” those differences really are. Hillary won’t go away quietly, let alone peacefully.
Just the other day, the Obamessiah was all baadasssss like Sweetback and giving Joe Lieberman a taste of The Chicago Way™ as he displayed his new prowess as the new alpha male of the Democrat Party. By his kowtowing to the woman he vanquished, he has yet again proven himself to be an empty suit.
Methinks he should’ve sent Michelle over to Hillary’s house instead.
Update (6/6): CNN gets their facts straight; same link as above:
Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton met late Thursday in Washington, D.C. — their first meeting since Obama became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
“Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama met tonight and had a productive discussion about the important work that needs to be done to succeed in November,” a joint statement from the two sides said.
CNN’s Candy Crowley confirmed that the two met to discuss plans for “bringing the campaigns together in unity for the party.”
Earlier, reporters on Obama’s press plane learned that the presumed Democratic nominee for president was not aboard when it departed Virginia, where he had been campaigning. Aides said staff members “scheduled him some meetings” in Washington.
The meeting originally was believed to be at Clinton’s D.C. home, but sources later said the two met elsewhere in Washington.

Krap. It is a strength on his part. He beat her square and fair!! you know that. Weak best describes Mcain.
I don’t dispute the fact Barack beat Hillary fair and square.
It is SHE who should be approaching him, and not the other way around.
Why is Clinton being treated like she is something special. She is a US Senator who ran for president and lost. People are treating her like some kind of a delicate flower.
Suspending her campaign will not unify anything. It will make her “followers” believe that she still has a chance. She is like a spoiled politician who refuses to play nice… It would be so unlike Obama to choose her as his running mate. Actually, I’d bet that privately he can’t stand her. She didn’t just campaign for the nomination, she did everything in her power to assassinate Obama’s character. That is something a Dem does to a Rep or a Rep to a Dem but NOT a Dem to another Dem. What is her problem??
Obama has to nip in its bud any ideas of Clintonistas [starting] a gorilla (sic) war. He has to bring the lady inline and make her to work to archive (sic) his own goals. VP position obviously is off the table. Her ’skills” could be utilized elsewhere.
CNN should apologize for the compete lack of NEWS coverage. This 24/7 attempt to predict future events such as what Hillary will say Saturday or should Obama pick Hillary has been beat to death and is NOT news and was not taught in journalism school. At best it is editorial opinion, yet you fail to label it so, you treat the interviewing of each other as news worthy and use one another as sources to keep the future story alive. What happened to waiting for a story to break, vs. discussing what you think might break and all the possible future events based on that opinion??? Last nights steaking out of Clinton’s home (empty) and speculating on what they were saying inside was the laughing stock news media event of the year. How are the people doing in Sudan? Anyone die in IRAQ today? Where is Bin-Laden? Is GM going down the tubes? Who allowed banks to loan over 100% of home values? Why is oil so high and what can be done to get the price down? You gave up being a credible news agency, just a 24/7 TV magazine gossip outlet. Get it????
