It’s not often that I agree with Ed Brown (alias DarkStar) on the issues. However, on the subject in question, I agree with him 100%.
In summary, I support legal immigration. Play by the rules. Learn the common language. Assimilate into society. Be a productive citizen.
Those ideals are followed by naturalized residents of every nation that has immigration laws on their books — except for America, where illegal immigration is out of control, and those who are here illegally (as well as their enablers) thumb their noses at our country’s sovereignty.
Either America is a nation of laws or a land of anarchy. Given the weak-kneed willingness of our government to actually enforce current immigration laws — let alone propose new ones that are sugar-coated for political correctness, we are rapidly headed toward the latter.
And before anybody starts hatin’ on me and calling me a racist, I’ll repeat the sentence again:
I support legal immigration.
Update: CNN’s Lou Dobbs nails it.

Maybe I need to voice more support than opposition.
I think you would be surprised.
You don’t have to do anything but continue to speak freely. Disagreement makes for good conversation.
California is a part of the United States of America, and is in no way connected to Mexico.
There is a border between the two, and it is meant to be crossed in a legal manner.
If a person enters the United States with no legal right, then that person is committing a crime.
Those who are committing these crimes, are the very people that California is putting up with.
Better known as illegal aliens, they are the people who are making you wait for long periods of time in hospitals because they over-crowd waiting rooms with no means in which to pay for health care.
They have no legal rights to work, housing, education, and welfare, and yet we give them part, most, or all of those things at your expense.
Illegal means to break the law.
These people are breaking the law by even being in California!
Why are we paying their way?
There is increasing crime in our schools, on the streets, and even on our properties because of illegal aliens who come here with little or no money, and who do not care.
We now have teachers who speak the many languages of these illegal aliens because they do not speak english.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
This is America!
We speak english!!
If they can’t speak our language, then what are they doing here?
Every time they cross the street they break the law because they are illegals, and that means against the law!
An elderly American woman was given a ticket in Los Angeles because she could not make it from one side of the street to the other on time, due to her age.
Yet we allow every illegal to cross every street.
This is insane.
Where are our leaders?
Why are our borders open while we are at war?
Why are we putting up with this?
While I write this, I must point out that many of my friends over the years have come from other countries.
They are the Latinos and others who came here under legal means.
They are hard working, good, honest people who are proud to call America their home.
I am just as proud to call them my friends!
They are angry at those who come here expecting a free pass.
This should not be happening.
We want answers from Sacramento, Washington, and our town and city leaders.
This is an election year, and if we do not get answers from those in office about the questions of why there are illegals here, and why are we paying their way, then we will take it upon ourselves to clean things up, by sweeping those in office, out of office, and replace them with people who put the interests of California first!
I am,

Dear D.C.
As a Democratic candidate for Assembly 7 on the November ballot, with regards to the issue of impact of illegal immigration: I wish people would study how illegal immigration has impacted South Africa in recent years. Something now like 94% are against open borders and a poll showed 78% of members of the African National Congress are opposed due to impact it has in undermining trade unions, etc. Clearly no one can say that over there it is in any way a racist issue
California is not part of Mexico, however, it once was and lets not forget America’s roots. illegals are not the only people waiting in line at the hospital it also Americas poor which are also blacks and whites. And when I say whites it means anglo-saxon of different backgrounds and nationalities that make up the whites. As uyou put it they have no legal rights here in the U.S but yet again the greedy “white business owner” loves them cause of their bottom line which is the almighty dollar. Which in turn they pay no taxes, and there you have a corrupted American system. If they were to hire Americans they would have to pay higher wages as well and of course they don’t want to do that. To say that “illegal immigrant” does not care about crime anywhere is just silly and narrow minded, just like saying that only “americans have feelings and compassion. If teachers are having to learn another language that just makes “America” a well rounded nation a true, compassionate nation. Isn’t it better to recieve less than you give, where are the “American” values on which this nation was born of? Not being able to speak english doen’t make one any less of a person or an “American”, there are people that speak other languages that are very smart and gifted, so what’s next now if you’re def and can’t speak you’re unwanted?
One day I was off to a date in N.C. and I pick-up my date at her uncles’ house and a burly man comes out and drills me with questions as to where we were off to. And then he asks me if I’m white ,it was kind of dark in the drive-way, I reply no I’m Mexican. He replys,”I don’t like Mexicans.” I asked why and he says that Mexicans come over and come over and don’t pay taxes, then I say well who is hiring them? I continue saying that whites are with there big companies that don’t want to pay full price for and hours wages. If there there were no companies willing to hire them my guess would be that they would not cross the border. Then I continue by asking him if he loves his country? He replies yes. I asked, did your serve your country? No, he replied. I said well I’m Mexican-American and by your standards it’s not my country but yet I’m serving to keep your freedom in tact and I’m not white. Needless to say he had no comment. I have served with many great, loyal non- U.S citizens while in my 12 years of service in the Marines.
