Sharpton Chickens Out

February 2nd, 2005

The PETAns have commissioned a new “colonel” in their continuing War on Meat:

The Rev. Al Sharpton will not eat at KFC and he doesn’t think you should either.

Starting today, Mr. Sharpton is joining forces with the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to urge a boycott of KFC, which is owned by Yum Brands of Louisville, Ky. Mr. Sharpton and PETA want the fast food chain to require its chicken suppliers to put in place new standards for the treatment of the 750 million chickens they process for KFC every year in the United States. The rap mogul Russell Simmons is also joining the Sharpton campaign.

“If we give our money to KFC, we’re paying for a life of misery for some of God’s most helpless creatures,” says Mr. Sharpton in an eight-minute video that will be shown outside KFC’s around the country.

PETA has been waging a campaign against KFC for two years. The organization was eager to enlist Mr. Sharpton because KFC has many stores in largely black neighborhoods and in late 2003 KFC executives told investors they were making an increased effort to market to blacks.

I’m all for animal welfare, but PETA’s tactics of fear, intimidation, and totalitarianism are over the top, and only serve to further the organization’s core goal: to place animals above humans and force veganism on the populace.

Of course, I’ll have to tell Rev. Al to stuff it — and say that indirectly hurting the many black-owned KFC franchises with eco-political foolishness is “fowl.” If he won’t eat KFC (though I’m sure he’ll still eat Kennedy’s Fried Chicken in his Brooklyn neighborhood), I will — and I think you should be free to choose what you want to eat, and to hell with PETA.

As the saying for a popular restaurant goes, “there’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes.”

    Linkology
Report Says MTV is Sleezy: Duh. I love the Parent Television Council. I think they do great work, but they wasted their time on this one. The first three minutes of “Real World: Philadelphia” makes their sleeze factor abundantly…

KFC does sound good right about now. If Rev. Sharpton opts to not eat KFC, fine with me, but don’t try to impose your ban on me, thank you. And like you said, he should consider who he is hurting. Hope you are well D.C.

The only people who pay attention to this are the veggie nuts and the people who need a Black boogie man.

Come on, who thinks that Blacks are going to give up eating meat? Let alone chicken! :-)

This is suprisingly timely as the 2nd season of Penn & Teller Bullshit! was released this week. The first episode on it exposes PETA. Their tax returns show they actively sponser convicted terrorists like Rodney Coronado. And it’s unsuprising some of their campaigns have contained striking anti-semetic undertones. Well, wait I minute, now it’s starting to make sense why good ol’ Rev. Sharpton joined up with them after all.

D.C., I think your spam filter ate my post. Anyhow, I wanted to mentioned that readers can get the scoop on PETA by watching a little show by Penn & Teller that is tittles with a minor swear word. Unsuprisingly, they are giant hypocrites. However, when you delve deeper you’ll discover that PETA sponsers terrorists like Rodney Coronado. If anyone you know has ever donated to PETA you might want to let them know that their money is going to teaching radicals to throwing molotov cocktails. Unsuprisingly for any radical left-wing group, their rhetoric is full of anti-semetic undertones, which kind of explains Rev. Sharpton joining up, I guess.

Your post came through just fine, George. I’ll admit that WordPress has been buggy as of late, mostly due to trackback spam attacks. Hopefully I’ll have time to sit down soon and get the kinks out.

By the way everyone, I’m back on my feet again and feeling much better. Thanks to all who wished me well. :-D

Well, the one I hastily redid (it shows in the grammar) went through fine. It would have been nice if the comment system would send me back with an error message and let me edit out the proper name of the Penn and Teller show rather than discarding my whole post with no feedback whatsoever.

Anyhow, glad that you’re feeling better and back on your feet.
