If you’re willing to give up your liberty for a false sense of security, more power to you, but don’t make the blind assumption that anyone who doesn’t is “morally bereft”. That’s ridiculous.
Only those who desire to appease terrorists are willing to give up their liberty in return for a false sense of safety. Such people are the ones who are cowardly and deprived of the will to live free.
But then again, I thought you would be relieved that the election wasn’t marred or delayed due to domestic terrorism.
I, too, will have an essay in the near future about my problems with the main three components of the right, not saying you are a member of any of them. I’m tired of feeling like I’m being maligned here. I’m tired of being looked at as an idiot.
Aside from that, I am relieved that this shit didn’t drag out like 2000, not surprised with the results for good reason, and afraid of what might happen in this country now that the Repubs have four more years of full reign over the government. When you upset the balance of power, you screw the whole system. I hope like hell I’m wrong. I hope that the Repubs aren’t setting up a conservative utopia. I hope that Bush really does try to reach outside his base and truly unite us. I still maintain, for myself, that voting for the shrub was not a good idea, especially since I disagree with a vast majority of his stances.
I also hope the Dems put up someone stronger than Kerry in ‘08.
