Bush Snubs NAACP (And Rightfully So)

July 12th, 2004

All of you know the stories, and there’s been lots of commentary concerning it. I haven’t thrown in my two cents on Bush’s refusal to subject himself to ad hominen attacks at this week’s NAACP convention because I have already done so last July.

The two cents I tossed in one year ago would’ve probably made me a rich man today, if it were real money.

Contrary to popular opinion, the NAACP is no longer the leading organization for black Americans. It is a bought-and-paid-for subdivision of the Democrat party. For all their vicious anti-Bush rhetoric and its ongoing defamation of contrararian blacks, it’s the organization’s leadership of Kweisi Mfume and Julian Bond that are robbing blacks blind of their individual freedom and enslaving them to far-left groupthink.

The old NAACP that was once respected, trusted, non-partisan, and advocated for all people died a long time ago.

If I were GWB I would have publicly told the Baltimore Bandits to go to hell. But he’s the President — and he mustn’t allow Mfume and Bond to drag him down to their levels. If John Kerry wants to kiss their behinds (or vice versa), fine.

Because in the end (and to paraphrase Flavor Flav), the NAACP is a joke.

Update: Mfume was on The O’Reilly Factor tonight — and I missed it. Would anybody who watched the segment care to comment?

I saw it. It comes back on at 11.

OReilly and Mfume had a decent conversation. In fact, Mfume comes off very well in the exchange.
