I realize I'm late to the party here, commenting on this post over a week and a half after it was posted, but I must say thank you for an honest, thoughful and well-mannered post.

I wasn't too young to vote for President Reagan, and did, twice, so I remember his attitude that we can disagree without being disagreeable. Your post shows that you have the same attitude, and it is refreshing to see. Given the number of posts I've seen on other blogs this week that are anything but, I had to say thank you to you.

"Respect is due the bereaved, as well as to those who have a good feeling about him. It's just the decent thing to do."

Max despised Reagan, but he sets the right example here. Now is not the time for rancor .

Unlike Bush I'll give him a week of respected mourning before attacking any claims towards the greatness of his presidency.

Bush I am not sure of. The Christian me says we should pray for our leaders. But since Bush took office I have only prayed he would leave.
