Well, it may not be new to others, but it’s definitely new to me.
After trying blogBuddy and w.Bloggar for Movable Type posting clients, I found both to be lacking in functionality and missing the robust features offered with the usual MT bookmarklet. Now, there’s a new Windows-based client that’s determined to fill that void — called Zempt.
I downloaded it and tried it on a posting and some entry updates. So far, I’m pleased with its ease of use and the availability of MT and HTML editing features at the local-client level.
If you’re looking for an MT posting client, Zempt is definitely worth trying.
Update: According to this discussion on Yuan-Chung Cheng’s blog, a Linux version of Zempt is also in the works.

Del: There is a bookmarklet for Zempt. Visit the website and drag the link “Zempt This” to your browser toolbar or bookmark it.
Michael: To my understanding, A Linux version of Zempt is being developed, but not yet available. I assume that the same would apply to a possible Mac OS version as well.
There’s also some follow-up discussion related to developing the Linux port:

Hey, I have Zempt installed and have been trying to figure out if there is a way to make it work more like a bookmarklet. Actually, more like a right-click “MT It!” menu item. Is there a way?
The reason I ask that my preferred way to blog is to find a story of interest, highlight a quote, then right-click and pick “MT It!”.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the info DC! I just got it and I can already say I love it. I’m REALLY glad I switched to MT now.
Darmon, it says it’s ‘multi-platform posting for Movable Type’, but I only see a windows download. Is there a linux version somewhere?
Couldn’t even come close to getting it to work. Was never able to set up that first account.
